Divinity Reflected

The first large ritual I had ever attended was Kris Jensen's ordination ritual. I can't describe how powerful, intimate, touching, deep, bright, and joyful this experience was.

This came to me in the early afternoon the day after the ritual. I played it for Kris; she asked me to play it at the closing ceremonies. It paraphrases some of what was said in calling the elements in the ceremony.

As we stand here in the Circle
Hands connected to hands, to hands
Calling community here with us
Hands connected with hands

Air we breathe, and air we (live/swim) in
Hands connected to hands, to hands
Air sustains, carries drum and voice
Hands connected with hands

Chorus
See in the mirror of Life
The light of the world
Divinity reflected
Taste the waters of Life
Feel the hope of the world
We all are One now-

Fire fuels our passion onward
Hands connected to hands, to hands
Feel the heat in the Dance, the movement
Hands connected with hands

Liquid water fulfills our bodies
Hands connected to hands, to hands
Is a part of us all, connecting
Hands connected with hands

Chorus

Solid earth centers all others
Hands connected to hands, to hands
The bones and rock that support and hold us
Hands connected with hands

Chorus
