Steve
thanks Lufthansa. Profusely. For without them safely carrying Katy
back and forth, well, this album would have been only slightly more
difficult. He also thanks Katy, for far too many things to mention
here (but he's willing to show her in person and private after
the album...).
Katy thanks
Yooh, for helping start this adventure. She regrets that Yooh now
needs to find new convention roommates... are you available? Katy
also thanks the ice cubes at the Wyndham Dublin Hotel. If you don't
know the story, just ask. And be prepared to sit for a while...
She also thanks Steve- but since he's typing this he feels amply
rewarded by the smooch he just received.

Notes:
It's been a pretty
hefty year. It started with my layoff from Worldcom, proceeded through
a summer wearing tights and a couple of unprecedented trips to Germany,
and culminated with this album in your hands (or on your hard
drive).
The two things that
drove the selection this year were songs that spoke about Katy to
me, or were songs that I performed at various Renaissance Faires
over the summer... as well as songs that combine both.
This album ain't
perfect. With my technical limitations, combined with the loss of
a sound-isolated area for my studio; mixing was a real challenge.
On the other hand, comparing it to the other Holiday Albums, it's
easy to see that... I haven't improved any in my ability to mix
an album. Ah, well. Perhaps next year..
This was a year of
mutual discovery and joy. We hope that you find that reflected in
this collection.

always wanted to do this song. He's even recorded it a couple times,
but it never sounded quite... right. Now he knows what was missing.

No Man's Land
Copyright © Tony Carey: Katy and Steve heard Anne Haigis
and her band do this song live in Hamburg in May, 2004. As we listened,
we both looked at each other and went, "Hey... we could DO
this song!". It was just right- she played a Takamine, he played
a Taylor (Steve REALLY wants a Taylor, Katy REALLY wants a Takamine...).
We love this song.

this song really says everything we feel about this piece. Recorded

Circles In The
Grain Copyright © Tom Jeffers: One of the interesting
things I learned playing at Renaissance Faires over the summer was
that there aren't a lot of people who have heard of filk. So there
is this whole catalogue of appropriate music that the public at
large just hasn't heard. This song got slipped in pretty often.

"Snow Scene" Copyright © 2004 Katy Dröge:
Katy wrote the music for some lyrics written by Naomi Rivkis,
and started to record it at the end of 2003 at Steve's house. She
never finished. In fact, all that was done was a short test of part
of the guitar part. Steve loved the snippet, and wrote the melody
line that appears here.

This is one of the first songs that we performed together. We liked
it well enough that we recorded it... and Steve promptly lost the
tape! After a year of searching (and a move) he found it.
It's nice to be out of the dog house... (It's a good thing Katy
really likes dogs...)

Talis writes the most wonderful songs, and almost anything we say
